By Erik Brudvig Samurai Warriors 2
arrives at a time when the hack-and-slash genre could use some of that
fresh air that the original game in the series brought. The first
Samurai Warriors was lauded for bringing RPG elements to a stale genre,
but development house Omega Force
has essentially released the same game again in Samurai Warriors 2 with
some new additions that fail to add enough to a genre that is feeling
more outdated with each successive release. If you're in love with the
hack-and-slash style of gaming, you'll find plenty more in Samurai
Warriors 2. But if you're looking for a new videogame experience or any
variety, you'll only find more of the same mindless gaming we've seen
too many times before.NEXT
There are exactly two things you can count on in this world: one, you're
going to die someday, and two, there will always, and we mean always,
be a new Dynasty Warriors game each and every year. Koei's 800-pound
gorilla of a game franchise continues to come back time and time again,
making just enough slight changes to the overall framework of the
gameplay to please the series' fan base. However, while that's managed
to work well enough over the years, with the fifth official entry in the
series (not counting all the Xtreme Legends and other spin-offs), the
Dynasty Warriors brand is showing its age. The simplistic beat-'em-up
gameplay, while marginally adjusted, simply isn't cutting it quite the
way it used to. This sequel actually lacks features found in the Xtreme
Legends and Empires versions of Dynasty Warriors 4, which ultimately
leaves it feeling a bit lackluster overall.next

Story:
Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in
culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler,
Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war,
corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire
apart. One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown.
Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious
monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox,
senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to
Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne,
Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.
In
the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your
peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King
Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet
fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.
Without
a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig
Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you
into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where
you help fight for the future of Bohemia.next

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sheer freedom and sense of
adventure is a remarkable achievement. Right from the start, the vast
landscape of Hyrule is thrown completely open to you, and it constantly
finds ways to pique your curiosity with mysterious landmarks, complex
hidden puzzles, and enemy camps to raid for treasure and weapons. The
fact that you can tackle any one of these things at your own pace and
almost never get pulled to the main path is liberating, but the way all
of Breath of the Wild’s systems fit elegantly into complex light
survival game is even more impressive. I’ve been running around for over
50 hours and I still have plenty of mysteries left to track down and
lots of wonderfully crafted puzzles to solve. I’m in awe of the scope
and scale of this adventure, and I often find myself counting the hours
until I can get back in.next
